Dürer’s Journeys:
Travels of a Renaissance Artist
A major UK exhibition of German Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer (1471–1528) focusing on his travels across Europe, the exchange of ideas he sparked with his contemporaries and the increased fame and influence that followed from his journeys. The exhibition in London contained more than 100 objects from paintings and prints to drawings and letters.
A variety of carefully planned label sizes and styles were required for the large number of works arranged in tight hangs and various showcases. Each room had its unique colourway referencing Dürer’s paintings, and careful consideration was needed for balancing the tonality of the graphics. Dürer signed his works with a monogram, which was recreated in large scale to announce the arrival to the exhibition.
